The Fifes in the Boer War

Although some soldiers from the 6th Volunteer Battalion Black Watch and Fife Artillery Volunteers did serve in South Africa as part of regular army formations, indeed the 6th VB Black Watch earned the "South Africa 1901-1902" battle honour for its 33 strong contingent, it was the Light Horse who sent most men to the Boer War.

The Fife and Forfar Light Horse recruited and formed the 20th Company Imperial Yeomanry which trekked over 2500 miles in the Transvaal and Orange River Colony during their time in South Africa 1900-01
